Mt. Washington attempt

On February 27, I went with some guys from church to head up Mt. Washington. At 6,288 feet (1,917 m), Mt. Washington is the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi R. Until recently, this was also known as the windiest place on Earth - now it's just the windiest in the northern and western hemispheres. I digress...

On the heels of Thursday's wind storm (wind gusts at 91 mph in Portsmouth) that knocked out our power for 3+ days, we headed up on this gorgeous, snowy day.

Though we didn't make it to the summit, we got to Lion's Head, about 1000 ft. shy of the top. After getting the weather info, we now learn why. Sustained winds at 30-40 mph and gusts of 65mph. Visibility was next to nil, windchill was around 15 below, and our footprints from <5mins before were covered up. It was a blast!
