Visit From Uncle Dave and Aunt Chris

In the wake of the HUGE upset by Purdue earlier today over the much hated OSU Buckeyes, I'm happy to write this blog about the visit of the famed Purdue graduate and uncle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_fIbn_HBzQ). Boiler up!

Last weekend we had a great visit from Uncle Dave and Aunt Chris. They left the nice weather of Charlotte, NC to revisit fall in New England. This time, though, things were a bit different. They had two nephews this time to attend to. Jude was all excited (well, as much as we could tell). The video-chatting we'd been doing that week certainly helped.

They wasted no time getting into the thick of things - getting Jude out of jammies before 10a,

helping with lunch, projects around the house, redirecting Jude from whatever made Jude upset, coddling Levi, throwing the ball for Jack, cooking, running errands...

AND they did a great job coming up with new verses for "The Ants Go Marching" (Jude's new favorite hiking song). Jude was so taken with Chris' new verses that he only wanted her to sing the song up Mt. Major, near Lake Winnipesaukee and some pre-peak fall colors.

Jude enjoyed "climbing the rocks" at the top, but wasn't too keen on the wind (and then just so they didn't get too comfy in their roles of "cool aunt and uncle" for the week, we had an absolute meltdown because the jacket had to stay on).

Even though they lost of couple cool points for keeping the jacket on, they quickly redeemed themselves with presents! Yes! Stickers, cars, planes, who needs anything else? Jack got tennis balls too. Man, everyone was happy.

And no visit by friends and family is ever complete without a trip to the playground. Jude tends to run around the bridges and plays with the slightly used (dilapidated) toys in the sandbox. Just like home, he organizes them in a row on the bench. Engineer in the making? Perhaps, but I think it is more the German in him.

Thanks for all the help (and the pumpkin beer)!
